I don't travel well at times. I look back and realise how bad my fear of flying was at one stage and now I smile a little at the methods used to get back on a plane. Even now having travelled to Australia and Kenya in my post fear of flyings state, I never fully relax on a plane and it is a means to an end.

I wonder do you ever think 'what have i achieved in my life' and what is the purpose?

Maybe almost childlike we think - i still want to be something when i grow up and even though we are already grown up we dream of what might have been or what we would like to be.

I wonder do you ever think 'what have I achieved in my life' and what is the purpose? Why am I here and would I be missed if i wasn't. Whilst Christmas is over -  I love the film 'it's a wonderful life' where the star  after wishing that he hadn't been born, soondiscovers with the help of the angel Clarence that had he not been born, lots of peoples lives would be so different. It is a good old tear jurker and in the end the junior angel recieves his wings.

In the parish we lock out baptismal record in the safe i suppose for a number of reasons - one it is a requirement for such a document but probably and more importantly as it is special containing the names of those who have come into the family of God.

Maybe the safe signifies being held in God's safe keeping (or is that too much of a jump in anyone's mind).

As a man i can identify the wise men - bet each of them believed they knew where they were going to - and of course without a map. Following a star can be easy when you are on the main highway but as you turn off the main route, it is not as simple and anyway a king should be in a palace and not in a dirty stable. One side street can be the same as another but if there is a big palace well it is much easier to find.
