Dear Friends,
If you happened to be at St. Anne’s for the 11am service this past Sunday, you will have heard Fr. Simon announce that a new Electoral Roll is being prepared in accordance with Church of England Representation Rules, which require this be done every six years. If you wish to have your name entered on the new roll - whether or not you are or have been on previous Electoral Rolls - you must apply for enrolment by completing and signing the Application for Enrolment form.
Everyone comes off the current Electoral Roll and must re-apply to be included on the new Roll.
You have the option of either:
1) filling the form out on your electronic device and returning it to St. Anne’s by email;
2) printing out the form and filling it out manually and returning it to St. Anne’s in person; or
3) filling out the form at church, where it will be made available from next Sunday.
If emailing the form, please submit to myself at electoralroll@stannes-soho.org.uk and copy in Jake Lee at info@stannes-soho.org.uk. If submitting the form in person, you can give it to me, Jake, or one of the church wardens.
Below you will find some FAQs regarding the preparation of the new Electoral Roll. If you have further questions, please feel free to reach out to me or Fr. Simon or email info@stannes-soho.org.uk.

FAQs:
What does it mean to be on the Electoral Roll?
Being on the Roll does not necessarily commit you to anything, but is a sign that you value St Anne's and what it offers to Soho: a Christian presence that builds up the community of faith, and is a force for good in the wider community around it. For the church the Roll can be a measure of its health and a reminder for its clergy that you are amongst those at the forefront for whom it has a duty of care. Representation on the governing bodies of the Church also depends on the numbers on the Electoral Roll.
Those on the Electoral Roll can also attend the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM), vote on church matters, and stand for election to the PCC or other councils (such as the Deanery, Diocesan or General Synod).
How do I know if I am eligible to be on the Electoral Roll?
You must be able to answer ‘yes’ to the following:
1. I am baptized (according to the rites of any mainstream denomination)
2. I am aged 16 or over (or will be as of the date of this year’s APCM, 11 May 2025)
3. I am a member of the Church of England or of a church in Communion with it (if you aren’t sure, just ask Fr. Simon or consult the Church of England website HERE).
in addition, you must either:
4a. Be resident in the parish; or
4b. Have regularly attended worship at St. Anne’s during the last six months (note: if you have been prevented from worshipping regularly during this time but would have done so otherwise, and you would like to be on the Roll, just fill out the form and provide the reason for non-attendance)
What if I meet the eligibility requirements, but I am already on the Electoral Roll of another church?
You can be on the Electoral Roll of more than one church, although you cannot serve on more than one PCC at a time.
Am I required to be on the Electoral Roll if I am eligible?
No. You can be a full and active member of St. Anne’s without being on the Roll. However, if you want to participate in the APCM or stand for election, you are required to be on the Roll. It is a sign that St Anne's is important to you.
How will the information I provide on the application form be used?
Your information can be used for church matters only. Your personal data will be held securely and processed in full compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Data Protection Act of 2018. Further information and guidance about data protection can be found on the St. Anne’s website HERE.
